After the end of the group, she appeared on many shows
and became really popular when she showed her bogko/bokko
dance (meaning "old school" dance) on the
"Love Letter" TV show.
She became an internet sensation, by ranking
n°1 on search engines.
In
early 2006, she started her solo career with a digital
single, “One For Love”, and her
first album quickly followed in
the fall of 2006. The first single had been “Ganghan
yujah” (Strong woman). It featured
Carlos from Uptown and b-boys (break dancers).
The
second single from this album was “Malgwalyangee”
(Tomboy), a song carrying a cute and sweet
atmosphere, more inline with popular tastes
contrary to “Strong woman” and its rap style. Bae
Seul Gi performed this new song a lot on various
TV shows.
Along
with promoting “Malgwalyangee”, she assisted some
Eru’s performances for his second
album comback single, “Black Glasses”. Eru is a
Korean singer who debuted in 2005. He is the son
of Tae Jin Ah, a “teuroteu” (trot) singer, the oldest
form of Korean pop music.
With
the success of "Tomboy" and in order to
celebrate Christmas, she released her 2nd digital
single in December of 2006 : “One by one”,
the lyrics being composed by Bae Seul Gi herself.
In
addition to her singer career, Bae Seul Gi became
a fashion model, promoting cosmetics,
make up and clothes brands.
She is also an actress. She appeared in “Banjun
dramas”, one of them being “Unforgettable
love”, featuring Dong Bang Shin
Gi members as well.
