and got a great success from the start. After many
Korean releases, she even became popular in
China and she started a career in Japan. |

History
]
Lee Jung Hyun started her career as an actress,
at the age of 16. She was featured
in the movie Kkonnip (a Petal),
in 1996.
Seen as a potential new star, she released her debut
single “Wa” (Come)
in 1998, which topped the Korean
pop charts for three weeks. It was a techno-dance
styled song she performed with huge fans with eyes
drawn on them. Lee Jung Hyun used to be dressed with
long speakling asian outfits and sticks in her hair,
and almost always performs this song wearing a wireless
microphone on her small finger, instead of a regular
microphone. This became her performance trademark,
which generally compliments her early techno style.

Her 3rd single called “Bakkwo” (Change)
achieved greater success by eventually becoming the
most broadcasted song of the year
on SBS Seoul. She won an award as the best
new performer in both 1998 and 1999.
Furthermore, Lee Jung Hyun is one of the most featured
singer featured on music-rhythm games like Dance Dance
Revolution.
She released her debut album, “Let's go to
my star” in 1999.
Lee Jung Hyun became internationally popular in 2000
when Sammi Cheng, a Chinese singer
from Hong Kong released Mandarin and Cantonese
versions of "Bakkwo". Sammi Cheng
also sang a couple of other remakes from Lee Jung
Hyun's songs, “Wa” and “Neo” for instance.
Until 2004, she was known for her techno-trance
style of music, as well as her original looks.
With her fifth album, “Passion”,
she changed for a latin style. The
song “Tarahae bwa” from the said album and its sexy
video clip illustrates it quite well.
Lee Jung Hyun released her first Japanese
single, “Heaven” in 2004
as well as a Japanese version of her all time hit
“Wa”. Just like she did in Korea, she used the same
outfits and same wireless microphone hooked on her
finger while performing. She sang “Heaven” and “Wa”
on the all time famous Kohaku Utagassen
Japanese show.
Her debut Japanese album “This is Hyony”,
was released in 2006.
During the same year, she released her sixth
Korean album “Fantastic Girl”
and promoted it by singing the main song “I
love you, Cheolsu”. She appeared on various
TV shows by Bae Seul Gi’ side. Both girls performed
each other's songs on Music Bank and took part in
one of the “Super Viking” episodes. |
